Welcome
WELCOME TO THE DEATHEATERS GUILD SITE!
"WE FEAR NO ONE"
Thanks for coming to the site. As most of you know, we have been active for quite awhile so this site is a reference for potential guildies as well as those who are already members. The front page here states the goals for our guild and, as always, we are willing to take any suggestions or requests that guildies have for the guild officers.
GUILD MISSION: To work as a team, have fun and advance in the game.
GUILD PRIORITIES:
1- TEAMWORK- We will ALWAYS accomplish more when we work together as a team. Whether that means helping guildies with heroic runs to gear up, using your professions to help other guild members or just helping answer people's questions in guild chat, working together is our #1 priority.
2- FRIENDLINESS- As guildmates, we treat each other with friendliness and respect. We're here to have fun and help each other out. Everyone's been in a group where a few people with horrible attitudes made the run unpleasant for everyone, our guild will not be that way.
3- ADVANCEMENT- Everyone has their own ideas for what advancement means. For many, it means raiding, especially the higest level raids in the game and getting the rewards that come from those raids. At the core, we are a raiding guild and we do plan on conducting frequent guild 10 and 25 man raids. For now, that means we are in ToC/ToGC and Icecrown Citadel.
GUILD RULES:
1- Work together as much as possible, it's our #1 priority as a guild.
2- Treat other guild members with friendliness and respect. Joking around is always fine, but don't be a smart ass or intentionally mean to another guildie. The guild should be a place where people can joke around, have fun and ask questions and always know their guildmates will help them out.
3- Guild Bank. The guild bank is open to all officers and anyone who has been with the guild for more than two weeks and earned their 100 or more DKP for the month. If you find you need something out of the bank, speak to your Lead Class Officer to have them grab it for you. For any questions, Draango/Deatheriize is the guild bank officer.
Thanks for reading and welcome to DeathEaters

DeathEaters Guild Recruitment
Thanks for reading. Our guild is exactly as advertised here. We want people to have a 100% understanding of our guild when they apply.
DeathEaters is a Raiding guild on the Rexxar-US PVE server. We have two 10 man teams and are considering resuming our 25 man raids in the near future.
If you feel like us, you are probably disappointed with the quality of 'raiding' in today's WoW. There seem to be two distinct groups forming in this game. The first is the 'Naxxtards' who know next to nothing about their class, don't understand hit or expertise but constantly link their gear drops in trade or guild chat because they think they are 'leet' now. The second group are the people who actually know their class, but are often too busy flaming other people on forums or in trade chat to say a friendly word to anyone. Our guild is an attempt to counter both of those things by having serious raiders without the serious drama.
Guild History
Our guild is over 3 years old. It was begun by the current GM after being disappointed with the current server guilds having almost no social interaction or negative, drama loaded communities. The guild was inactive for awhile, but since early Wrath it has been reactivated as a raiding guild. At this point, the guild has been highly successful in raiding nearly everything in game including several hard modes of dungeons and the first parts of Icecrown citadel 10 man. The age of our guild will also be a big benefit to us when Guild buffs and gear come out in Cataclysm. Our guild goals are simple, and no matter how many times we wipe when we're downing Lord Marrowgar, or whatever boss at the time, there is no screaming, no name calling, and no sarcasm on vent or in guild chat. There is just a serious desire to improve as a group and down the boss as a team. There are really only two reasons to stay in a guild in World of Warcraft. 1-Because you like the people and 2- because you like the raiding or PVP the guild does. We want a guild that meets both of those goals.
Guild Philosophy
We began this guild with two goals in mind.
1- Be one of the most successful raiding guilds on our server and possibly in the world
2- Have a healthy, fun environment in our guild and in raid
About us
We are primarily an adult guild, with most people in their 20's-30's+. Many of our raiders have jobs, college and/or have families. We have a strong number of current and former military personnel in our guild of all branches (myself included). We understand the random schedules of military personnel and respect their service but it is certainly not a requirement to apply. Many of our raiders have experience dating back to early BC and/or Vanilla WoW including 40 mans (yay for 7 hour Molten Core 40 man runs :/ )
Although in the end the GM has the final say in guild matters, we consider our guild a democracy. We have guild meetings every few weeks where we discuss current issues as well as our near term raiding plans. At the end of the meetings, everyone from the GM to the member that joined 2 days ago is given a chance to talk about whatever issues they are concerned with. Afterward, all officers get together to decide what, if anything, needs to be done regarding the issues.
What we are looking for
Our future goals for the guild are not to fill a few slots for our current Icecrown progression team, or find one person to help on ToC hard modes. We are thinking long term. We want people to think of our guild as an in game home, with friends they can talk to whenever they're on and people we can depend on in our raid team. Although we live thousands of miles apart, many of our raiders have each other's cell phone numbers and text/talk frequently as well as the occasional Facebook post. That is the type of guild community we want to continue to foster.
We are looking for people who know their class and are serious about raiding, but want to play as part of a team and are tired of all the drama that has unfortunately become part of this game. We recruit the person, not the character or class. We see getting good people into our guild as an investment in the future for all of us and as another person that we have fun raiding with. We will not recruit someone that we do not have fun spending time with. All classes are welcome to apply. We are particularly short on Warriors, Rogues, Mages and Locks at this time. There is normally a two week 'raid applicant' period before someone is fully accepted into the guild.
Raid times and schedule
We currently have two ranks. Our Raiders raid Tue-Thrs and our Members, who normally raid Fri-Sat
Tue-Thrs 8-11 server time
Optional 'zerg*' raid: Mon 8-11 server time
*The zerg raid normally consists of Onyxia's lair 10 or 25 man as well as OS 3drake zerg and possibly VoA
We are considering an optional Sunday raid in the near future to satisfy our 'hardcore' raiders that want to go 7 days a week.
Members normally raid Fri-Sat: 8-11 server time. Raiders are welcome to attend member/weekend raids if spots are available.
Loot Rules
We are converting to a DKP system this week as a method of rewarding our consistent raiders. The system will be fully explained on the guild website, but basically, the more raids you show up to, the more gear you will receive is the bottom line. During your two week trial period in the guild, you will still earn DKP for raiding with the guild, but a loot council will decide who best to give gear to in regards to upgrades. At the end of the trial period your LCO wil meet with the GM for your promotion. At that point, you may spend your DKP as anyone else in the guild would and there is no preference based on seniority or any other criteria. This is not meant to punish anyone, but we as a guild we are looking long term, not for someone who will join up, get a drop from ICC and /Gquit the next day.
Community
As stated in our mission statement, DeathEaters is committed to a culture of no in game drama. That includes both loot drama, in guild or any other server drama. When you are a member of DeathEaters, you are expected to
never, under any circumstance
, use any public forum -- including server forums -- to respond to, post, or instigate any level of drama. This is not limited to messages related to our guild, but also to any drama post for any guild. This also means we do not create self-congratulatory posts for our accomplishments in any public community.
You are also expected to
never, under any circumstance,
engage in in-game arguments with players outside the guild via chat or private tells.
The goal with these rules is not to restrict our members, but to attract members who are not prone to interpersonal drama in the first place. By staying completely out of server-related drama, we leave a light footprint that allows us the flexibility to pursue our own goals, be they Raiding, PVP, gathering, or crafting. We allow our standing on the server and our performance to speak for us, not forums or in game trade chat battles.
Applying
Anyone interested in applying should visit the recruitment section of our website in the forums. Please check under the forums section for Raider application information and/or our boss strategies under raid video guides. Also, potential applicants may join us in vent for any of our raids. You will find people on vent almost 24 hours a day. Contact 'Nightstorm/Stormhammer or Stormtempest' in game for our vent information or any questions regarding our guild.
Now that the holidays are over, the guild is raiding both in ICC and ToC as well as cleaning up some leftover Ulduar hard modes. Feel free to contact myself or the GM anytime in game or via email (spartan41h1@gmail.com). If we can't get back to you right away, rest assured we will as soon as we're done smashing Arthas's followers :)
Have fun raiding, see you in Icecrown.
Suffer well...

Guild Raid Rules
Nightstorm41
, Dec 3, 09 1:42 PM.
DeathEaters Raid Guidelines
Raid Rules
(Applies to ALL raids)
1- Be online 15 min prior to the raid beginning.
2- All raid attendees should be at the summoning stone 5-10 min prior to raid start. Do not expect to be summoned, it is a privilege, not a right.
3- Gear should be repaired and raiders should have buff potions and/or regeants PRIOR to the raid beginning.
4- At 5 min past the scheduled raid time, Raid Leader will fill empty spots with other guild memebers or PuG'ers that he requires.
5- If you are planning on attending a raid but will be late, let Raid Leader know so that he may reserve you a spot.
6- Standard raid configuration is
10 man 2 Tanks/2 Tank Healers/1 Raid Healer/5 DPS
25 man 2-3 Tanks/2-3 Tanks Healers/1 Group healer for each group/All others DPS
These configurations can be changed by the raid leader depending on the Raid objectives
7- Raid Leader will assign tank and healing assignments, normally while buffing up and preparing for 1st pull. Do not spam raid chat asking what you are doing, lead will tell you.
8- Once assigned, roles remain the same for the duration of the raid unless the raid leader specifically changes something.
9- All guild officers will be assigned as 'Raid Assist' during all raids.
10- Vent channel is reserved for Raid Lead, tanks and healer communication unless Raid Lead requests something be called out in vent during a run. Other questions should be typed in Raid chat.
11- Loot will be distributed via Master Looter and standard loot council/DKP rules. Main spec rolls always override offspec rolls until 14 Jan when DKP will be in effect. Once someone has won an item, he goes to the bottom of the roll list for the next drop until all Raiders with similar gear needs have received an item.
12- It is the Raid Leader's perogitive as to who to assign as Master Looter. Whenever possible, this will be someone who can DE items that are not needed. Unneeded BoE items will go in the guild bank or be sold for guild funds.
Required Add Ons for raiding
-Ventrilo Voice chat (server is paid for by Stormhammer, the program is free)
-Deadly Boss Mods
-Omen or some comparable threat meter
-Pally Power for all Paladins (Will be configured by a Pally LCO or the AsstGM)
Role dependant Add Ons
(Required for Progression Raiders, suggested for Casual Raiders)
-Grid/Healbot (for healers)
-Decursive (for classes capable of de-cursing)
Progression Raid Rules
1- Raids will be Tues-Thurs 7-10 server time
2- Progression Raiders are expected to attend these raids to the max extent possible
3- Strategies will be briefed, overall boss fight mechanics will NOT, ensure you review the fights in the 'Raid Video Guides' section of the forums.
4- Player experience, past performance, encounter mechanics and gear score will all be taken into account when determining who will attend progression raids.
5- All progression raiders should have an application finished in the forums section of the guild website.
Any questions regarding Raid rules should be directed to your LCO. Should your LCO be unavailable the AsstGM's may be contacted w/ your questions.
I realize these rules may seem rigid, but they are the best efforts of our guild officers to make our raids more organized as well as to make it more fun and expedient for us to raid. You can see how 24 people spamming 'summon me' makes a raid start out slow from the beginning. Please follow the raid rules, not knowing them or ignoring them will be grounds for your Raid Leader to not take you on a raid.

Guild Ranks
Nightstorm41
, Oct 31, 09 4:46 AM.
Our guild ranks have recently changed. We did this for a few reasons. First, in order to prepare the guild for more organized and focus raiding that we are doing in Icecrown and ToGC, we created a position called 'raid leader.' The GM, AsstGM's and a few others will hold this position. The Raid Leader has the final say in the conduct of any particular raid. When a Raid Leader is conducting a raid, all other Raid Leaders will try not to interfere with his leadership of the raid unless asked to do so. Other officers will still hold the Lead Class Officers (LCO) position and will still be responsible for mentoring and helping out other toons in the guild and will assist in the promotion process to raider. When someone is ready for raider, the LCO and raid leaders will meet to discuss the promotion. Any disagreement will be taken to an AsstGM for resolution. LCO's will not be Raid Leaders and vice versa, each person will have one role.
Here are the new ranks in descending order.
Guild Master
- Stormtempest - Has the final authority in all guild matters
AsstGM
- Nohealani and Stormhammer - Prog team recruiting, resolves disputes and advises GM
Raid Leader
- Ako and Animozity - Lead 10 and 25 man raids on a roatating basis w/ the GM and AsstGM
Officer/LCO -
Assist in raid leading, subject matter expert on their particular class to help newer raiders
Officer Alts
- Alts of guild officers. While on this toon, guild officers retain the authority of whatever position their main character holds in the guild. (The GM does not stop being GM just because he's on an alt)
Progression Raider
- Participate in the highest level guild raids
Raider -
Participate in guild raids. Expected to be ready to participate in a progression raid if needed
Raider Applicant -
Newer members are placed in this position for the first two weeks until they are promoted to Raider or Progression Raider
Friends/family/alts
- Friends, family and alts of Raiders and Progression raiders will be placed in this category. Also, players that are unable to make minimum DKP for the month and cannot make raids due to current family or other life concerns may be placed in this category. This is a rare case and only players who have shown a high degree of guild loyalty and participation in the past will be placed in this category.
For any questions please ask myself (Stormhammer), Nohealani or the Guild Master, Stormtempest.

Raid Point (DKP) Standings Enhancements
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/12/2010 6:55 PM
The Raid Point Standings widget has been given a boost in functionality with today's code push! While the widget on a page displays much as it has before, clicking on it will open a dialog with a log of drops the member has paid out DKP for, manual adjustments made by events admins, and a full event attendance history.
In addition, event admins are able to add manual adjustments directly from the dialog (under the "Manual Adjustments" tab). No need to hunt around in the control panel for that, anymore!
Finally, a new button is visible to event admins when viewing a specific event using the Calendar widget that makes it possible to go directly into event follow-up, without needing to hunt down the event in the calendar widget editor listing. The link to directly edit the event itself has been converted into a button to make it easier to find, as well. Both are along the top.
New Web Mail UI
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/11/2010 3:13 PM
A new web-based mail interface goes live with today's push! The new UI brings GuildPortal's mail up to date with some of the more intuitive mail systems out there, offering grouping, improved sorting, and simplified custom folder creation.
It no longer requires a dedicated tab, as clicking on the Mail links (regardless of navigation type) will now open it in its own window. For those who already have sites with an inbox widget on a page, it will now load the new UI embedded inside. Admins who are particular about style settings within pages may want to remove their dedicated mail page completely and just let the links do the work.
Custom Event Roles and More
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/4/2010 4:39 PM
Custom Event Roles top the list of items included with tonight's code push. Click the Edit button under your calendar and then click the "Custom Roles" link at the top of the editor window. This allows you to add to the list of default event roles like DPS, tank, healer, etc. In addition, you also have the option to completely replace the default roles and use only your custom-provided ones. The check box for doing so is located in the same place.
Some bug fixes included in the update:
Clicking on Manage Guild Associations for a character will no longer result in a redirect to the GP home page.
A blank page will no longer show up when sending new mail from the inbox.
Adding a new custom event category, and then immediately adding a new event, will now show the newly-added category (previously, you had to close the window and re-open it).
There is now an option in the Control Panel, under Style Settings : Text, that makes it possible to specify the spacing between lines in posts, news, and other areas.
More font options have been added to the Control Panel, under Style Settings : Text.
Various widgets have had their output modified slightly to make them more uniform with the rest of your site.
Subscribing Helps, but there is More You Can Do!
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
3/3/2010 12:06 PM
Most of you know that since December of 2003, GuildPortal has been donating $1 from every guild web site subscription and subscription renewal to
Food for the Hungry
, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing relief services to the poor, including emergency assistance and educational programs that provide impoverished communities the knowledge they need to better sustain themselves.
Right now, the
40th Annual Hunger Fund
is
multiplying donations 53 times
. That means for every dollar, $53 in actual aid is shipped for suffering children and their families in Haiti and 13 other countries facing widespread disease and hunger.
We wanted to bring this to your attention so that you can participate in helping the Hunger Fund save lives even more dramatically, $1 at a time, via your direct donations, if you so choose. For more information, please visit
The Hunger Fund
.
A bit of legalese: GuildPortal is in no way being compensated for linking to The Hunger Fund or Food for the Hungry.

First, thanks to everyone for your patience during the recent updates. They were by far, the most extensive and complicated set of changes to the infrastructure during all of GuildPortal's time online. We apologize for the constant revisions we needed to make to the estimates.
Now, back to normal! Tonight's code push includes a fix for the news item viewer's commenting functionality (when opened from the small news widget).

Links to blogs from the most recent blog entries widget, as well as links to your own blog in both the top and side nav areas have been fixed.
Also, upon entering guild chat rooms, you are shown the help command. When you type it in, you can see the available slash commands for chatting. Included are sending a sound to the room, listing available sounds, and sending an emote.
Saturday, February 27th Maintenance
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
2/24/2010 2:08 PM
From Saturday at midnight until completion (some hours later), GuildPortal will be down for maintenance. This is the final phase in a series of infrastructure updates we've been making. It will also address the problem with adding images to your galleries.
February 15th Maintenance
GuildPortal Change Log Entry
2/9/2010 2:34 PM
Due to rampant zombie infestation of the current data center, there will be an 8 hour service window beginning February 15th at 11:00 PM EST, during which there will be a data center migration of servers, switchgear, and associated IT equipment from the current facility to a new data center.
All attempts were made to fight off the zombies, including liberal use of fire, shotguns, Ving Rhames, and just about everything you can find inside a sporting goods store.
Downtime will likely not take the full 8 hours. Estimated downtime is calculated as follows:
10 minutes - fit armored vehicle with weaponry
30 minutes - shutdown of servers and un-rack
15 minutes - load time
30 minutes - transport
15 minutes - unload time
60 minutes - re-rack of servers
15 minutes - buffer time for overruns
4.9 minutes - check for zombie bites
.1 minutes - whack any zombie bite victims
The migration has been planned extensively over the past 6 months and we anticipate a limited amount of downtime. This procedure has been rehearsed with test equipment and live ammunition in a wide array of scenarios, such as:
Zombie attacks on the armored convoy while en-route.
Zombie ambush at new facility.
Zombie development of the ability to run (usually only the UK versions do this, but one can never be too careful).
Zombie conversion (via bite) of IT personnel while servers are being handled (IT personnel are expendable and will be sacrificed).
In order to avoid encountering yet more zombies, we have planned our route to steer clear of the following types of areas: malls, farm houses, high schools, colleges, places of work, places with people, military installations, amusement parks, golf courses, highways, and London.
